Sending photos to your frame using playlists

How can I use playlists to send content to my frame?

From the app home screen, tap on the ‘Photos ’ tab. You will be shown a screen which contains all available playlists.

  • We have added a default ‘My Playlist’. You can tap on this playlist to begin adding photos & videos.
  • Alternatively, you can create an unlimited amount of playlists. To do so, tap ‘ New Playlist’.
  • You can choose between creating a Standard Playlist or a Dynamic Playlist.
  • A standard playlist gives you full curation control. You can add your photos manually.
  • A dynamic playlist is a live connection with Google Photos (in this instance). This means that your Nixplay will always show your most recent Google Photo albums; all you need to do is make a one-time authorization.
  • When creating a Standard Playlist, you can manually add photos & videos from your device, or from a pre-existing Nixplay Cloud album.
    • Tap Camera Roll (iOS) or Photo Gallery (Android) to add photos from your mobile phone’s photo library. Select the files you want, hit ‘Select’.
    • You can add captions per photo. Tap the send icon. Name your new playlist and assign it to any paired frame listed, using the view toggle. Hit ‘Confirm’. Your new playlist is now created and playing on the frame.
    • Alternatively, you can tap ‘Cloud Albums’ to see photos that you’ve already added. Use the same method as above in selecting your photos.
  • To create a Dynamic Playlist:
    • Tap ‘Create Playlist with Google Photos ’. Tap ‘Allow’ to make a one-time authorization between your Nixplay and Google Photos account.
    • Your playlist will be synced every 30 minutes. Select if you’d like to sync with your most recent 1,000 Google photos or a specific Google Photos album or category.
    • Once you make your selection, you have the option of using the same playlist name or editing it, as well as assigning the playlist to a frame using the view toggle. Tap ‘Confirm’.
  • As you create multiple playlists, you can also control which of these appear on your frame. From the drop-down on the home screen, select 'Assign Playlist' if there are no playlists already assigned to your frame. In the drop-down, you can select 'Play All Playlists Below', which will play all your playlists assigned to the frame successively, or select a specific playlist if you prefer to see one specific playlist.

How can I add content to my playlists from my cloud albums?

In a Standard Playlist, you can manually add photos & videos from a pre-existing Nixplay Cloud album. These albums contain the backup of original photos on the Nixplay Cloud.

You can create an album, add photos to that album from multiple sources, and then cherry pick which photos from that album should appear in which playlists. An album is your memory library in the cloud.

To create or manage your Nixplay Albums, hit the ‘Photos ’ tab on the app home screen. Then tap ‘Library’ to see your ‘Content Library’.

We have already created a default ‘My Uploads’ album. Photos & videos uploaded to playlists are automatically saved here. Tap ‘My Uploads’ to add photos or alternatively Tap ‘ New Album’ to add a unique album. Add photos as you would when adding photos to a playlist.

To delete or rename any album, tap the More icon (the three dots) under the album thumbnail and hit delete or rename accordingly.

To remove individual photos from any album, open the album and tap any photo thumbnail to activate full-screen view. In the bottom right corner, tap the More icon and choose ‘Permanent Delete’.

To delete multiple photos simultaneously, open any album, tap More icon on the top bar, tap ‘Remove Photos’ and then select the thumbnail of each photo that you’d like to remove. Hit ‘Permanent Delete’.

To view a friend’s profile change settings or unfriend a contact, click on their name. In their ‘activity stream’, click on ‘edit’ their name and change settings or unfriend.

Why am I not seeing photos sent from a friend(s) on my frame?

If people in your friends list are sending you photos but they are not appearing on your frame there are several things to check.

  • Are the photos from your friend getting to your Nixplay account? To check this from the app home screen tap the Activity Feed icon in the top right corner. Have a look for the friend in question, you should see an entry with their name and the number of photos they have sent.
  • Do you have a playlist assignment for that friend? In order for photos sent from a friend to appear on your frame they need to be assigned to a playlist. To check this go to the main menu and select Friends. Tap edit and then tap the edit button next to the friend in question. You should now see a section with a drop-down to select which playlist photos from that friend will go to.
  • Is your playlist assigned to your frame? The last thing to check is that your playlist has been set to show on your frame. From the app home screen tap on My Frames and then tap on the frame that is not displaying the photos. Tap on the playlist icon (middle) and make sure that the toggle for the playlist has been set to Show.
  • If your photos are still not showing up on your frame after following the above steps then please contact our Customer Service team and they will be happy to help.
